Verified ReviewerGodaddy Hosting Service Has Reached A Low I Didn't Know Existed
An old client of mine has most products with GoDaddy but one standalone hosting plan with SiteGround that he forgot to pay and got canceled. I suggested he have it all under one umbrella since he's mindless about this stuff, so he bought WP hosting with GoDaddy yesterday.
Now in general, GoDaddy's okay in my book. I'm not a huge fan of them; they're okay, but in this case, it's best for the client to have all products with GoDaddy for simplicity's sake. That said, I attempted to migrate the site probably 5 or 6 times, twice using GD's suggested options (direct admin login and plugin download option), then again using direct import/export, Updraft, WP Migrator, even FTP. It was the same result every time, GoDaddy's globally famous critical error white screen we all know so well.
In the past, their tech support has been pretty decent, especially with the critical error screen due to how often and seemingly random it comes up. Times have evidently changed. Keep in mind, a small WordPress migration is about like taking a *** He just kept repeating my two options: either do a manual migration or pay $199 for us to do it, and I kept replying that no matter which method I used, option one was not available. And I know how simple it is for them to resolve something like this—nope, nope, nope—two options, that's it.
It's literally like they placed stumbling blocks in the client's path so as to force them into the paid upgrade. It's not the money, it's not even my money, it's the tactic they use that just disgusts me. I asked to speak with a higher tier support person—nope, not an option. And this is a good paying client too, not a whale, but you know spends like $200/month with them.
It's not as if the site was hacked, or malware, or something that's the result of the client being too cheap to pay for SSL or nightly backups or whatever. That's the customer's fault; this is NOT that! I almost, almost, almost told him to cancel out the new hosting plan, but I stopped myself because it's what the client needs. I'm disgusted though, and I now have such a bitter aftertaste that I will go out of my way to share this experience with current clients, future clients, colleagues, other web platforms, etc.
And I will be moving all our older assets out of our original GoDaddy account.
The $199 my client paid them today will ultimately result in a far greater loss for them down the road, and that is a direct result of their tactics. Again, it's not the money, it's the fact that I was forced to pay for an add-on service that I would otherwise never choose or need to use.
- Poor business integrity

Verified ReviewerI Paid $8,600 to GoDaddy — Still No Website Access or Refund
As a woman-owned small business, I was pressured into an $8.6K GoDaddy package loaded with domains, SEO, and TutorLMS without clear pricing. The rep claimed my site would be invisible or hacked without it.
Their own designer later told me it was unnecessary. TutorLMS is free or $499 one-time, yet GoDaddy upsold it. Despite partial refunds, $3,635.88 remains unresolved. I still can't access the site I paid for, and my company name (Auburn Security Solutions LLC) remains tied to unused domains.
I've filed complaints with BBB, multiple agencies, and still no resolution. This was misrepresentation and systemic upselling.
- Commission-based sales tactics
- No access to domains i paid for
- Lack of transparency and support
Preferred solution: Full refund

わかりません。
We are contacting you on behalf of a telematics system provider working with automotive OEMs.
Our current server certificate, issued by GoDaddy, is trusted by in-vehicle telematics control units (TCUs) that rely on the Starfield Class 2 Certification Authority as their root certificate.
As you may be aware, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has discontinued cross-signing with Starfield Class 2 CA, and many TCUs are no longer able to establish HTTPS connections using AWS-issued certificates.
GoDaddy-issued certificates have been the only viable solution for maintaining secure communication with these TCUs.
Our current certificate is valid until December 2025, and we are concerned about the possibility that GoDaddy may discontinue issuing certificates compatible with Starfield Class 2 CA in the near future.
We kindly request the following:
Confirmation of whether GoDaddy plans to continue issuing SSL certificates compatible with Starfield Class 2 CA beyond 2025.
If possible, an extension of support for such certificates to ensure continued secure communication with existing TCUs in the field.
This issue directly affects emergency call systems (eCall) and other safety-critical services.
We would greatly appreciate your support and guidance on how to proceed.
Thank you very much for your attention.
Best regards,
-----
Vishali J at 17:55, 8月 20:
Thank you for reaching out regarding your SSL certificate needs. We understand the critical importance of maintaining secure communication for your in-vehicle telematics control units (TCUs).
At present, GoDaddy SSL certificates remain compatible with the Starfield Class 2 Certification Authority.
I recommend you take our managed SSL, and our team will update it for you every 90 days, and at the time of renewal, we will rekey the SSL for you as well.
Let me know how you would like to proceed.

Thank you for your response.
I understand that Managed SSL offers automatic renewal every 90 days.
However, my concern is not about the renewal process itself, but about the certificate chain compatibility with Starfield Class 2 CA.
Specifically, we need to know whether GoDaddy plans to continue issuing certificates that are compatible with Starfield Class 2 CA after December 2025, as our in-vehicle TCUs rely on this root certificate and cannot be updated.
This is a critical issue for emergency call systems (eCall), and we kindly ask that this inquiry be escalated to your technical or product team.
Thank you for your understanding.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with discount on future orders. Apologized, clarified the issue and gave a discount. Call good service once you get to them.
I'm trying to striaghten out why my new site with them is blocked. They have put up a paywall too soon.
It's a glitch that stops my from working on my site. The AI can't solve it and I'm asking for them to cancel the site and and refund me. It's a time suck and I called to get human help their line isn't accepting the code they sent me for verification. So no human help.
So it's a wasted day with them!
I have another site and there hasn't been any issues. So it's uneven.
User's recommendation: At the first indication of AI incompetence cancel the site and move on.

Verified ReviewerEric D and GoDaddy are horror shows
Eric D (rude) and GoDaddy as a whole are the worst customer service and pricing on earth. They get you in the door for pennies, sometimes not always, and then charge you a trillion dollars afterwards.
Exaggerated, obviously, but not really; we're talking about real dollars, overpriced. They keep you on the phone for half an hour, an hour, 2 hours, etc., and never fulfill the promises they make. Your best bet is to Google domain name purchase, pricing, transfer, renewal, and you'll see many other companies beat them by a long shot. A bunch of losers sitting in their mother's basement working a computer like lowlifes.
Do yourself a favor and price around before you get sucked into a horrible locked-in price. Then they say if you join a membership you get pricing cheaper, but when you add it all up, you're getting ripped off; you might as well go to another company to get a good price or a fair price.

Verified ReviewerDo not trust! Their fee system is hidden within their website
I would have liked to have chosen 0, but that was not an option. A few months ago, I chose not to renew my domain and the website that goes along with it.
I clicked on the link that they sent me to disable the renewal process. I received a few emails saying my domain was no longer active. Six weeks later, I get a bill from my credit card company with a $200-plus charge from GoDaddy. I called the credit card company to dispute the charge, and they asked me to reach out to them.
So, I reached out to GoDaddy, and their excuse is that I disabled the domain, but I would still be paying for web hosting, which was in another section of their website, and the charge is more than 30 days old, so they will not reverse the charge. Why would I disable my domain and still pay for web hosting?

$19,500 in damages. I asked GoDaddy for a simple technical task: defederate my Microsoft 365 domain so I could transfer it to my own tenant. Instead? Endless calls, hours wasted, transfers between agents, and no resolution.

Verified ReviewerAnother one of those sites that attaches itself to what you wanted. In this case, I clicked on GoDaddy and immediately was shown Dot.com.
When I selected Go Daddy to get info about making a website I was amazed it cost so much. I explained to "Eleazar" that in the 80s I'd had a Q&A webpage where people could call in with questions about their outboards.
It was DIYers I was helping at no charge. After becoming a source for 100-200 questions a night I gave it up. Now I have eBooks to sell relating to Q&As and thought I'd start the site again. I explained I hadn't had any experience in setting up the first site and was certain I understood nothing now.
Over a half-hour I repeated that I wanted to know how much the site would be beginning to end because the widow would be getting the royalties from the eBooks. The sales rep went through the sales pitch and excitedly told me it would be $254 for THREE years!!! And that will give me a site where people can go to ask questions and maybe buy an eBook? Definitely.
We went through the process of setting up an account and I asked again: will I be able to refer people to my website immediately? Absolutely. He guided me to the spot where I went to design, but that wanted me to ante up for 3 more years' expense! The next agent came on and told me I'd been given the wrong plan (after I told the first agent before we committed to my agreeing to not cancel) but he'd give me the correct one that included the site creation.
In total I believe I said at LEAST six times what I wanted and that what I was doing was a service and I could not do more. I can't get a human at Paypal for guidance; my bank has already approved the $272 charge and I'm nowhere near getting what I said I wanted, nor can I afford any more. The first problem was the immediate attaching of Dot.com to GoDaddy; the second problem was the sleazebucket that could not have possibly misunderstood me, yet kept on until his part was done and the *** with me and my new problem.
If you can get my money back AND tell me what direction I might find something like the FCC to shut down those gyrations, great. I looked at ICANN but again, there's no route to going to the top to resolve this travesty.
- Whole set-up should be banned to eliminate add-ons
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: The moment you log onto a site, don't do a thing until you determine if the site that has attached itself to the site you logged onto is actually part of the first site.

Verified ReviewerA New Brand of Anarchistic Capitalism: Exploitation and, well, you hate America
GoDaddy is not your most glamorous web-building suite, and we are well aware. What I did not know was that their greed has reached new heights and all of this political nonsense going on right now aside, we have traitors, truly so, in our midst, and they are permitted to go unchecked.
Sounds dramatic? It isn't. It is right there. GoDaddy sucks.
We know this. We do not know that they havefilthyy ways to still take your money. Because, when you're using GoDaddy to build a site, you are clearly rolling in cash. So number one: They steal money fromhardworkingg American citizens trying to get their first website up to add to their local economy.
This large corporation with a very fat man sitting at the top someplace is stealing money from decent American citizens trying to make a living. Cool. Second, this person who does not deserve a single one of our servicepeople dying or risking their lives for his freedom and liberty to overexercise his 14th I amendment I rights to violate ours *** do not call yourself an American) is OUTSOURCING. He is taking American jobs.
Next, and I am NOT joking, the CEO has those in charge train Indian "customer service" people to be intentionally difficult. I got someone to admit it was their policy, as I challenged him to a war of attrition. I was on chat trying to be refunded from 6PM-2AM. Never got a refund.
He kept making me break company policy or do stupid things to waste my time so they didn't have to refund me. He would say gibberish about code. Make up things. I code and threw policies back at him.
Then I flipped completely and gaslit the heck out of the guy. Pretended I had no clue why he was trying to delete my treasured website and feigned anger that he would dare. The guy remained as pleasant as ever. The truth did not work.
Crazy did not work. So maybe reporting works. GoDaddy is stealing American jobs and filling them with foreigners forced to waste out time after stealing our money. This is why our economy is *** Well, one reason.
A troglodyte is exploiting foreigners, therefore taking away from OUR economy. Then this wannabe traitor PAYS said foreigner OUR money to refuse to return the money he stole and waste the only thing we have to put into a new American business at first--our time and productivity. This company does not deserve my family members blood puddled on the ground for the CEO's freedom as we have bled for every war to protect this freedom since we got here in the 1680s. How the *** does this "government" allow a person who had better never call themselves an American do this to what they do not deserve to call their country's economy?
Clearly they don't care about what happens in this country. I say send the whole C-suite over to the middle east for awhile and see how they like it. Take my family's blood for your freedom. Take our money without ask.
Take our people's jobs, then use our money to pay foreigner's to waste all we have left-our time. You people are sick and honestly do not deserve this great nation. We used to be the greatest nation in the world until idiots like you decided you needed to exploit and steal. Traitorous and shameful spineless little men.
I hope that you meet a fate like one Mr.Gaddafi. Do not dare call yourself an American. We will not die for you. We, the people, will laugh at you if things take a turn and you fall, and when it is done and you cry to us, well, I don't advise anyone corporate come near those of us who love our country and still revere (haha) the ideals of the founding fathers as our constitution and rights mean something to us.
Screw lawyers and judges changing these sacred words to infringe on our rights. Even worse are the politicians that let it happen. Even worse than that? The media.
Stop it people. They're lying to you, all of them. Go read some books and hug a veteran instead of buying more *** GoDaddy products and get off TikTok. Pay attention to what is happening.
Look at what this company is doing.
And know the worth of our veterans because these men and women are looking around and wondering what the *** they almost died for. *** GoDaddy.

Verified ReviewerWorst customer care I haver experienced- GoDaddy
No, solution so far. To be honest we have given up as we can see that they are taking the wasting our time strategy.
Started to have problems when purchasing a product from GoDaddy domain auction. The links diverted me endlessly to Swedish site and payment also in SEK and when changed the currency to EUR then chart was emty.2 days later won another domain when picked both it led me to Sweden again but if i dropped the first one all worked and paid for that.
So started to make a lot of screenshots and sent over the information with arrows and explanations to GoDaddy Auctions in godaddy.com>. Also several links just didn't work sent them screenshots with explanations again. Despite all that they decided to suspend my account because the domain was not paid and also added admin fee 50. I have sent them explanations, screenshots but to GoDaddy support it became more like a game for them.
There are thousands of complaints about the arrogant customer service all over the internet searches. I have been their customer over 10 years and now ruined it for 19 domain name where GoDaddy customer service didn't bother.
For more information i will share some posts with screenshots and information.
- Until you need customer service it works
- Customer care is below any standard
Preferred solution: I do not wish to have nothing from them, just release codes for all my domains and leave. It will add extra cost to me but working with reliable partner is more valuable.

Verified ReviewerHorrendous service and completely ripping off people! They are very happy to take your money but don’t help resolve an issue no matter how many times you call!! Stay away from this company!!!
I had taken out a HIPAA compliant email and began having problems with it as I was not receiving emails. I paid them $719.28 on 9/27/25 and inadvertently paid another $719.28 on 11/22/24!
In addition, I paid $239.95 for the domain on 9/28/24. After multiple phone calls, one rep finally confirmed that they had an incorrect email address for me. I requested a refund and was shocked to hear they would not issue it.
So many people are requesting refunds that they can't keep up with it. Stay away from this lousy company.
- Not forthcoming with all their fees and their quality control stinks
